A good quick read, great book for a holiday. A tale about the relationship between two Japanese girls in a Japanese city. It takes place over the course of one evening, and as the story unfolds you get to learn more about these two sisters. I enjoyed it, however I was saddened by the ending. There were a couple of elements I felt were going to take the story in one direction, and was disappointed when it didn't. I like the weird and unexplainable, and a bit more of that would have been nice.
However, the book did bring up many memories from when I lived in Japan, and Murakami's love hotel merged with the love hotel I stayed in during one of mine and my other half's (now husband ;) ) exploration of Japanese culture. So that was nice.
My first Murakami book and it certainly won't be my last.
