The Tales of Beedle The Bard, J.K. Rowling
I love Harry Potter and this book is a lovely little spin off from the main books, but it's nothing amazing, just a few wizarding fairy stories. Great for children as an addition to the series, but that's about it for me!
2/5
NB: Entered into the Hogwarts Reading Challenge 2012 under History of Magic, as this book is about history within the wizarding world.

The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, Douglas Adams
I enjoyed this book and really want to read the rest of the 'trilogy' right now. But I don't have them :(
I enjoyed the fact that Adams seemed to kind of predict some technology we have now, such as the Xbox Kinect. Although it was a radio in the book, and not quite as efficient. But still, pretty cool.
I might watch one or both of the films soon, but I'm going to watch it at the theatre in a few days, can't wait!!

NB: Entered into the Hogwarts Reading Challenge 2012 under Astronomy, because I've read loads of sci-fi books this year yet this 'course' is empty! This book fits perfectly into it, having the word 'Galaxy' firmly lodged in the title, and it's all about planets and galaxies and travelling across them.

Mid-year review
I've been recording my reading since April 2009, and my aim every year is to read 50 books. Since 2009 I have been reading less and less books, never getting anywhere near 50. Here are my stats from the last few years:
April 2009 - March 2010 = 39
2010 = 33
2011 = 29
So this year, I decided I would be happy to surpass any one of these numbers.
It's now July, and so far I've read 14 (and a half) books. Terrible. However, if I can keep up this pace, I *should* be able to read at least 30 books, which will be better than last year, and I will finally have improved on a previous year. Then maybe, I can break this downward spiral and get up to 40 next year? Time will tell.
If I can get my life sorted, then this summer will be a summer of reading and I will wave a hearty cheerio to those rubbish reading stats and cruise my way into the '50 books a year' club.
